Jen Wilkin has said that “The heart cannot love what the mind does not know.” Our Philathea Women’s Ministry aims to help women know God better so that they can love Him more. We strive for Biblical literacy, to understand the Scriptures in their original contexts and for their intended meaning and purpose. We know that God created women with the capacity to love God with their minds as well as their emotions. Our heart for Philathea Women’s Ministry is to see women transformed by the Word of God as they know the Word of God. 

 

We also understand that we have an ancient faith but a short memory, and therefore, we seek to keep the truths of Scripture present in our minds regularly through events and Bible studies that pair uplifting fellowship with solid Biblical truth. We want to be women who live out Jesus’ commands to love God above all else, and to love our neighbors as ourselves (Matt. 22:37-39). We also seek to serve one another and see our community reached with the Gospel in keeping with Jesus’ Great Commission (Matt. 28).

 

Our yearly ministry calendar follows the liturgical calendar, which includes the seasons of the church known as Advent and Lent, as well as “ordinary time”. We provide devotionals during Advent and Lent that help to stir our hearts and connects our minds to the truths behind these sacred seasons. We also provide quarterly Bible studies that go through a book of the Bible exegetically, taught by one of our teachers either in-person or online. 

 

We want to equip women to both engage with the Word of God personally on their own time and corporately through events and studies. This is why we provide a weekly podcast that dives into Biblical topics that our women can access at any time, as well as a group chat that they can utilize for questions, comments, or prayer requests.

 

The events we run throughout the year are aesthetically designed and intentionally organized to create a space for fellowship as well as preparation for the coming events and studies. We use these events to give a glimpse into what women can look forward to and to help set the tone for the coming ministry year. You can sign up for all events and studies in our church app.
